The First Ngā Pou a Tāne Regional Hui
At the end of March we had our first regional hui in Nelson for the Te Tau Ihu region, the hui was facilitated by our board member Lees Seymour, and Chair Te Kapunga Dewes. Other hui were held in the following regions and towns:
April – Waiariki (Rotorua) - Facilitated by board member Mike King and Chair Te Kapunga Dewes
April - Te Nehenehe Nui (Te Kuiti) - Facilitated by board member Doug Macredie and Chair Te Kapunga Dewes
April - Te Matau a Māui (Napier) - Facilitated by board member Bob Cottrell and Chair Te Kapunga Dewes
May - Te Taitokerau (Kawakawa) - Facilitated by board member Ernest Morton and Chair Te Kapunga Dewes.
These hui were to establish regional branches that will provide a forum for Ngā Pou a Tāne to capture the views, ideas and opinions of the people who reside in those areas. It has also provided an opportunity for people to join an organisation that can provide an augmented support structure that enables and empowers Māori both in, and into, the forestry value chain. Joining the organisation provides the additional benefit of being informed with current and ongoing forestry related issues.
