Robert Henare new Māori rep on Phytos Board
Phytos represents forest owners and log exporters advocating for and communicating with a wider stakeholder group including ports, phytosanitary treatment providers, research providers, government and a range of other organisations and individuals with specific expertise in phytosanitary solutions (e.g., methyl bromide fumigation) for sustainable wood fibre. Without this technical expertise our forestry and wood products would not be cleared to leave New Zealand ports.
Ngā Pou a Tāne was recently invited to become an industry member of Phytos, and appointed Robert Henare (Ngāti Hine) to be our Ngā Pou a Tāne representative to represent the rights and interests of Māori landowners on the Board of Phytos.
As well as tangata whenua and Treaty perspectives, Rob lends his experience and background in trade and export. Rob manages the chain of custody for sustainable log and wood exports at Lumberlink.
