Lees Seymour joins the LLHWP (long lived harvested wood products) Reference Group and Ngā Pou a Tāne to lead wānanga Mō Rākau Mauri
LLHWP (embodied carbon harvested wood products) reference group
A reference group is being formed to investigate the feasibility of a scheme to recognise the carbon in harvested wood products under Action 4.3 in the ITP - read more about Objective 4 in the plan here.
This work aims to research and shortlist regulatory and nonregulatory options for establishing a scheme to recognise the carbon stored in harvested wood products. This would include commissioning research to assess the feasibility, benefits, costs, risks and distributional impacts of the shortlisted options.
A member of the Reference Group, Lees Seymour represents Māori interests as well as his industry networks alongside others in the wood processing sector.
Ngā Pou a Tāne will also facilitate Mō Rākau Mauri embedding life essence in wood products wānanga, a four-session workshop for te ao Māori perspectives to generate development space for the Māori worldview and economies of wood including customary use applications (such as carving) to be enabled alongside the prevailing uses of wood dominated by the processing industry.
