Rawson is the managing director of Wright Partners Ltd, deputy chair of Te Taumata, chairman of Taitokerau Forest Limited, a committee of management member for Kaitoto Station, Enterprise Advisor on FoMA Innovation Team, Māori Advisory Group for Te Uru Rakau/Forestry New Zealand, and an advisory member of Treasury, Overseas Investment and Forestry Reference group.
Previously he was a Treaty Negotiator for Te Uri O Hau, was the chairman on the Te Uri o Hau Settlement Trust, co-chair of the Kaipara Harbour Joint Political Group, director of Te Arai Coastal Lands Limited, chairman of Hatea Properties Investments Ltd, and the Agriculture sector representative on the Northland Economic Action Group, chair of Te Uri o Hau Incorporation.
Rawson has a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from University of Auckland.
