Ngā Pou a Tāne pleased the Permanent Forest Category will remain in the ETS

The Government has confirmed they will not exclude the permanent forest category from the NZ Emissions Trading Scheme from 1 January 2023, instead they have agreed to work with Māori, including the Ngā Pou a Tāne Chair Te Kapunga Dewes and Board Member Mike King, and other forestry experts to redesign the settings for this category.  Whilst we are pleased with this decision work still remains to ensure that the redesign includes options that will support Māori landowners, and upholds the Government’s Treaty obligations to Māori.
